Ahead of the 2027 general election, the Lagos State chapter of the National Conscience Party (NCP) on Monday, formally merged into the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The NCP leaders expressed dissatisfaction with the policies and the administration of President Bola Tinubu since he assumed office, promising to work with ADC to mobilise Nigerians and work against his re-election bid.
Speaking to a large crowd of members and officials of both parties as well as select journalists in the Oshodi area of Lagos, Fatai Ibu-Owo, the NCP Chairman in Lagos said the merger was a result of a strategic moves and discussions by leaders of two parties.
Ibu-Owo said:”On September 11, 2025, the NCP Lagos State Coordinating Council met and unanimously resolved to form a coalition with the African Democratic Coalition (ADC) to rebuild Nigeria

“To President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we say, beging preparing your handover notes.
“The ADC-NCP alliance will democratically reclaim power in 2027.
“Lagosians have rejected the APC and it’s candidates – Seyi Tinubu, Ambode, Gbajabiamila, and others should take heed.”
Ibu-Owo, pointed out that the NCP-ADC alliance stand against the current administration, calling on every Nigerian to join the ADC for national renewal
According to him, “Imagine a Nigeria where fuel drives progress, not profiteering: where the Naira buys dignity, not despair; where security protects farmers, not graves.
“This vision is possible, but only if we act now.
“The time for endurance is over. The era of Tinubu’s tyranny must end with us.

Also speaking, the Lagos State ADC Chairman, George Ashiru, while welcoming the NCP into the party, noted that ADC is the second largest party in Lagos State.
He said the ADC as presently constituted in the State, is made up of members of the Labour Party, The Obidient Movement, as well as groups from both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Ashiru said, “All the principal people in Lagos are now in ADC. The party is big. The party is strong “
He urged people without their PVCs to contact their ward leaders and be active in their wards, promising that the party would help them get registered and get their PVC.
Ashiru also urged those coming into the party from the NCP to be active in their wards and polling units, stressing that that is how they would integrate themselves into the ADC.
Also, Shola Okiki, the representative of Rauf Aregbesola, the ADC National Secretary, welcomed the NCP members into the ADC.

“On behalf of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, I welcome you all.
“I believe with the NCP, it will be easy for us to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
“Go back to your local governments and formise their membership of the party.”
The NCP founded by the late legal luminary, Gani Fawehinmi (SAN), was one of the political parties deregistered the the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the action still been challenged in court.
