Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has urged the club to “focus on the future” following Cristiano Ronaldo’s stinging remarks about the state of Old Trafford.
Ronaldo, now at Al-Nassr, claimed earlier this week that Amorim “cannot do miracles” at a club that is “not on a good path,” insisting United’s problems go beyond the coach and players.
When asked about his former Portugal teammate’s comments ahead of United’s weekend clash with Tottenham Hotspur, Amorim responded calmly, stressing the importance of progress rather than reflection.

“Of course, he knows, and he has a huge impact on everything he says,” Amorim admitted.
“But what we need to focus on is the future. We acknowledge that we have made many mistakes in the past, but we’re committed to changing that. Let’s not focus on what happened, let’s focus on what we’re doing now.”
The 40-year-old coach said United are in the midst of a major rebuild after finishing 15th in the Premier League last season and losing the Europa League final to Spurs.
“We are changing a lot of things, the structure, the way we do things, the way we want players to behave,” he added. “We are improving, so let’s continue and forget a little bit about the past.”
United travel to North London on Saturday seeking to end a run of four straight defeats to Spurs, though they enter the fixture unbeaten in their last four league matches, a run that includes a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over champions Liverpool.
Reflecting on how his team has evolved since that Europa League loss, Amorim said:
“We are a better team now. We play better, understand the game better, and are more confident. We manage game moments more intelligently. Hopefully, with a bit of luck, we can get the result we want this time.”
