Riding on the success of her numerous best-selling books, Nuzo Onoh, an award-winning Nigerian-British writer of Igbo descent, is set to release yet, two new horror best-selling novels.
While ‘The Fake Ghost’ will be released on August 12, 2025, ‘Futility’, which is published by Titan Books, will follow later on October 14, 2025.
‘The Fake Ghost’, a 300-page horror novel, published by Dead Sky Publishing, is a dark farce and a supernatural thriller of rebirth, betrayal, vengeance, occultic magic, mysterious invocations and creepy rituals.
The new novels further consolidate the author’s position as the Queen of the African Horror genre, while speaking volume on the creative ingenuity of Nuzo Onoh, a recipient of the Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement and other awards.

Meanwhile, ‘The Fake Ghost’ is set both in Nigeria and the United States of America and follows the whacky and sinister travails of the President of the United States, reborn as a black child in a tiny African hut. As the child grows, he insists on being called POTUS and hears disturbing voices in his head that often cause him to be cruel and selfish.
Until one day, an accident separates the linked souls. With the help of a medicine man, the president must find a way to free his trapped soul and return to the United States to prevent a dastardly political plot against him. But first, he must enter a diabolical blood pact, which might return to haunt him with devastating consequences.
For lovers of horror genre, Nuzo Onoh’s new novel is worth reading as she takes her craft in horror writing a notch higher than her previous novels such as: ‘The Reluctant Dead’ (2014), ‘Unhallowed Graves’ (2015), Dead Corpse (2017), The Unclean (2020), A Dance for the Dead (2022), and Where the Dead Brides Gather (2024).
Fellow authors are also commending the new work.

Nuzo Onoh is an award-winning Nigerian-British writer of Igbo descent. She is a pioneer of the African horror literary genre. Hailed as the “Queen of African Horror”, Nuzo’s writing showcases both the beautiful and horrific in the African culture within fictitious narratives.
Nuzo’s works have featured in numerous magazines and anthologies. She has given talks and lectures about African Horror, including at the Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies, London. Her works have appeared in academic studies and have been longlisted and shortlisted. She is a Bram Stoker Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
She holds a Law degree and a Master’s degree in Writing, both from Warwick University, England. She is a certified Civil Funeral Celebrant, licensed to conduct non-religious burial services. An avid musician with an addiction to Jungyup and K-indie, Nuzo plays both the guitar and piano, and holds an NVQ in Digital Music Production. She resides in the West Midlands, United Kingdom.
