Commendation has continued to come the way of Governor Alex Otti of Abia State following his sterling performance in office.
A few days ago, representatives of Old Bende people mounted praises for the governor, endorsing him for a second term in office in 2027.
Politicians and other Nigerians, in their individual capacities, have also joined in the commendation.
Ude Oko Chukwu, immediate past deputy governor of Abia State, and a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP, has eulogized Governor Otti for the landmark achievements he has recorded within a short period in office.
Chukwu noted that the achievements have so far earned Governor Otti a second term in office.
He stated this while answering questions from newsmen after a closed-door meeting with the governor.
Chukwu noted that Governor Otti has within a short period in office transformed every facet of the state’s economy.
“You see, let me tell you, I have gone around Abia State, especially those of us who come from Abia North. You just discovered that the kind of road infrastructure that we have there, is unprecedented.
“So, it is not all about politics, it is not. No propaganda about it. The truth must be told. There is a remarkable improvement.
“You will discover that everything that he is doing, he has been very intentional about everything. Is it in terms of road infrastructure? Is it healthy? Is it in sports? Very, very intentional.
“Going by what he has done so far, you will discover that without mincing words, he has earned himself another tenure,” Chukwu stated. The former deputy governor, who described the infrastructural revolution of Governor Otti’s administration across the state including Abia North, Aba and Umuahia as unprecedented, said that Abians have not witnessed the level of cleanliness and development being championed by the present administration.
“Even if you move around Aba, move around Umuahia, the level of cleanliness, is such that we have not witnessed before,” he noted.
The PDP Chieftain, who was also former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, disclosed that his visit to Governor Otti was to appreciate his giant strides across the state.
He pointed out that Governor Otti has been intentional in all he has done in road infrastructure, education, health, sports development and assured him of the support of Abia stakeholders and statesmen.
“So, we just came to commend him and to appreciate him and let him know that all hands are on deck to support him, and look at all that he has been able to do within just two years.
“You can just be reassured that the man has earned himself another tenure,” Chukwu repeated.
On whether he would join other opposition party members who are already in realignments with the Governor’s Labour Party, Chukwu said that whenever he concluded on that, it would be made public.
“They are doing realignments, it’s also likely that some of us will also join them in doing realignments.
“If I am going to do that (join LP), I will invite all of you to be part of what will happen, maybe soonest,” Chukwu stated.
In related development a delegation of Old Bende Progressive Union led by Alex Ikwuechegh, member representing Aba North/South in the House of Representatives, had also visited Alex Otti to show their solidarity and appreciate him for the numerous achievements he has so far recorded.within a short time in office.
Otti, while speaking during the visit in his office, said that he is restoring the dignity of Abia people, emphasizing that the whole idea is to ensure that the state does not go back to Egypt
He said that once he retrieved the state completely, it would be difficult for the people to accept to go back to Egypt.
“The dignity of our people is being restored. Of course, the whole essence of government is about the welfare and security of the people.
“And the idea is that once we have retrieved our place, like we are doing, and show that it is possible for good governance to happen in this part of the globe, it becomes a major challenge and a difficult thing for people to want to go back to Egypt.
Governor Otti used the opportunity to announce that he would be hosting three teammates of the Super Falcons of Nigeria who emerged champions at the just concluded 2025 edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. He said that the three players include two Abia daughters and another one who, though not from Abia, but grew up here in Abia State.
He thanked the people of Old Bende and the entire Abia people and residents for the support his government is receiving from them.
He described political parties in Nigeria as mere platforms for contesting elections and stressed the need for all to work together irrespective of political party leaning.
Otti appreciated the relationship existing between him and his guests, noting that some of whom are from different political parties.
Ikwuechegh, earlier in his speech, said that they came to appreciate the governor for transforming and revolutionizing the state’s infrastructural deficits, adding that in just two years, the governor has transformed the state from the worst state in the federation to a state to be reckoned with.
“Our people can now proudly say that they are from Abia State.
“We have decided that none of our sons or daughters will run for governorship come 2027. There is no vacancy in the government house from 2027 to 2031,” Ikwuecheghe warned.
Azubuike Udah, a retired deputy inspector general of Police, and chairman of the union, who presented a communique of the union signed by her stakeholders, Old Bende Progressive Union informed the governor that people of Old Bende have resolved to champion and lead the way for his re-election in 2027.
He noted that the governor has justified the trust reposed in him by embarking on transformational projects like the Abia International Airport, the Abia Seaport, the Abia Sports City, Abia Industrial and Innovation Park among others.
The group assured Governor Otti of their sustained support to him.
Michael Okoro, popularly known as Vote for Jesus, chairman, Aba Landlords Association, who incidentally hails from Edda the 9th Local Government of old Bende but now in Ebonyi State, in his vote of thanks, appreciated the governor for his developmental strides across the state and his commitment to the welfare of workers and pensioners.
He thanked the governor for keeping his promise and a prayer answered to Ndi Abia.
He assured him of the support of his people who constitute a sizable demography in Aba, the Enyimba City.
Also John Amah, a reverend and district superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Nigeria Sango Otta, Ogun State, has equally written an open letter to the Governor Alex Otti, appreciating his achievements in a short period of time in office and his unparalleled leadership style.
In a letter he titled “Thank You His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti, The Listening Governor” and made available to the press, Amah extolled the tireless efforts of the Governor in transforming Abia state.
He commended the outstanding leadership and uncommon humility of the Governor, describing him as a listening Governor.
“I particularly acknowledge your bold and visionary decision to flag off the construction of the Ohafia–Arochukwu Road, a major road that had remained in deplorable condition for decades.
“Although this road falls under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government, you choose not to hide behind bureaucracy but instead take responsibility for the well-being of your people.
“That singular act demonstrated your uncommon sense of duty, responsibility, and leadership.
He noted with joy that the appeal he made to the governor through his representative at the burial of Israel Nweke, former Mayor of Osisioma Ngwa LGA, which was for the governor to mandate the contractor handling the road to get back to site was heeded to.
“Before delivering the message that day, I humbly informed your representative that I had been told the contractors had left the construction site. I pleaded, with the little influence I have as a preacher in Assemblies of God, that they should be asked to return to site.
“To my utmost joy and amazement, Your Excellency responded with swift and decisive action. Today, the contractors are back on the site, and the work has resumed. That, Sir, is what we call responsive leadership,” Amah stated.
He said that the governor’s gesture reassures the common man in Abia that there is still hope in governance and the future of the state.
The man of God, who thanked Governor Otti for making the people proud, prayed to the Almighty God, who placed the scepter of governance in his hands, to continue to uphold and guide.
“May the Lord who enthroned you preserve your throne. You shall not fall, and your light shall not go dim. You will finish well and finish strong.
Wisdom beyond your peers is your portion. You shall continue to operate with clarity of vision, sound judgment, and divine strategy.
“Every hand lifted against your leadership shall be confounded. Those who plot your downfall shall stumble and fall before your rising.
“May your government experience supernatural acceleration. What takes others years, may it take you months. What seems impossible, may it become your everyday testimony.
” The peace of God shall rest upon Abia State under your leadership. Violence shall be far from your gates; prosperity shall overflow in the land.
“Your legacy shall be generational. Long after you’ve left office, the works of your hands will still speak in Abia State and beyond. Your family is shielded from every form of attack, scandal, or shame. Your wife shall be a crown upon your head, and your children shall be mighty in the land.
“May heaven continually back you up. As you listen to the cry of the common man, so shall heaven listen to your own prayers. You shall never lack the right men and women, helpers of destiny, counsellors, advisors, and implementers who will help you carry out your divine assignment.
“Your second term shall not be a struggle. If the Lord tarries, and it is His will, He will grant you the favour of continuity and legacy completion,” Amah declared
