… Aregbesola tells Nigerians to vote out APC over hardship
As political actors begins alignment and realignment ahead of the 2027 general
election, Moshood Salvador, a former close ally of President Bola Tinubu in Lagos State has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) pledging to work for the defeat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Salvador, a former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in Lagos State and leader of the Conscience Forum, a political group.
He had defected the Labour Party (LP) from the APC prior to the 2023 general election.
He moved to the ADC alongside thousands of members of the group across the twenty local government areas and thirty-seven Local Council Development Areas (LCDAS) in Lagos State.
Salvador was welcomed into the ADC at a ceremony at Salvador’s Tower, his residence in Surulere by chieftains of the ADC including, the national secretary and former governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola and Rahman Owokoniran, a former lawmaker and commissioner in Lagos State.
Speaking at the event, Salvador said the decision to join the coalition was necessary because it was obvious that the Labour Party had lost it relevance because of internal crisis across the country and could not compete to win election.
He pointed out that the decision to join the ADC was taken by members of the Conscience Forum to chat their political future in celebration of the group’s twenty-five anniversary.
He pledged that all members of the group would defect and register with the ADC across the state, stressing that it was the way forward for the country.
Salvador, a former member of the House of Representatives, stated that the ruling party has disappointed Nigerians and it was time for the people to vote them out in 2027, noting that he was sure the ADC would deliver with the caliber of politicians in the party.
“It is the twenty anniversary of the Conscience Forum at the same time, people of wisdom, members may look back and think of what we have achieved and also look back to the future of what is coming.
According to him, “Our members where in Labour Party and since the problem of Labour Party has made the party unable to win election, we have to think of the future.
“That is why we are here. Any right thinking person would see that the new weave in town is the coalition, that is why we joined the coalition, not only the coalition but ADC.
“ADC is the face of coalition and that is why the Conscience Forum with over 400,000 members in Lagos State has decided to join the ADC and people that we have here are leaders and coordinators in the LGA’s across the state.
“So that they can see the kind of people they are taking into the party.
With this now our members can join ADC across councils Lagos State”.
Also speaking, Aregebsola lamented that there was high the cost-of-living in Nigeria under the current administration, stressing that due to Tinubu’s policies there was significant increase in the cost of everything including food.
He urged Nigerians to vote out the APC in 2027, because the party has brought untold hardship to the country and citizens, stressing that the economy and the lives of Nigerians were better in the previous administration before Tinubu.
“We are not making it up that Nigerians of yesterday is not the same of today. The price of a cup of rice has gone up. Your lives is not better than yesterday. Is there any side of your live that is better than yesterday?
“When government make your lives worst than yesterday what do you do? APC must go because it has turned our lives upside down. It has imposed hardship on us”, he said.
Speaking earlier, Owokoniran said the ADC remained the only party that can liberate the country from the poor governance of the APC, stressing it was obvious other opposition parties, especially the PDP was not ready to win election.
He stated that he decided to join the ADC and stop wasting his time in the PDP, charging Nigerians to embrace the party.
