The Nasarawa State Government has debunked widespread reports on social media suggesting that Governor Abdullahi A. Sule has declared his intention to contest for the Nasarawa North senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Ibrahim Addra, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the government described the claim as false and misleading, stressing that at no time did the Governor confirm or authorise such a declaration.
“Our attention has been drawn to a Social Media publication stating that the Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule has declared to run for the position of Senator in the 2027 elections. This assertion is untrue and definitely does not emanate from the Governor,” the statement clarified.

Governor Sule, according to the statement, has neither mandated any individual nor group to sell or promote his alleged senatorial ambition, nor has he held discussions with anyone regarding such a move.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Engr. Sule has never invited anyone to confirm that he is running or to sell his candidature for Senate or any other office, for that matter,” the statement emphasised.
The clarification comes on the heels of a speech reportedly made by Suleiman Musa Nagogo, Director-General of the Nasarawa State Bureau for Pension Administration, who claimed to have relayed the Governor’s alleged intention during an APC stakeholders meeting in Wamba.
Responding to this, the Governor’s office maintained that while there have been persistent calls by individuals and political groups urging the Governor to consider the Senate seat, he has consistently declined such appeals, citing his commitment to governance.

“In all of the instances, Governor Sule politely but firmly declined such calls, maintaining that his attention remains focused on delivering on his covenant with the people of Nasarawa State as their democratically elected Governor,” the statement noted.
The Governor, it said, remains grateful for the overwhelming support and goodwill from citizens across the state, but reiterated that his current focus is to continue with the developmental strides and reforms across various sectors in Nasarawa.
“It is pertinent to advise his teeming supporters to please assist the Governor in delivering on his mandate at this moment,” the statement added, while expressing appreciation for the public’s understanding and continued support for the Sule administration.
