The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) in Imo state has begun preparations for the 2019 general election.
The State resident electoral commissioner (REC), Professor Chukwuemeka Ezeonu, stated this during the media forum with INEC organised by Development Dynamic.
He said the preparation has become necessary in view of lapses that might occur during the election.
He advised those involved in conduct of the election not to take any food while on duty because such food might be poison which might make them to sleep off while on duty.
According to him, such a situation occurred in one of the elections that was conducted in recent time.
On the issue of card readers, he said that INEC has recruited technicians who would effectively repair machines when the need arises in any polling booth.
In his remarks on the occasion, the director of Development Dynamic, Jude Ohanele, described Anambra Governorship election as the free and fair when compared with the last election in the state, a development he said was a remarkable improvement.
