The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described its victory in Zamfara State as the triumph of the will of the people over manipulative forces.
Reacting to the Supreme Court judgement which sacked all the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that won the governorship, National and state assemblies in the state, the party says the victory is a clear pointer to the fact that no matter how long manipulations and anti-democratic tendencies appear to thrive, justice and the will of the people always prevail at the end of the day.
On Friday, the apex court sacked all the APC candidates that won the elections on the grounds that there was no primary elections in the state. It therefore ordered that the runners-up be sworn in if they fulfil the constitutional requirement of getting one quarter of the total votes cast in at least two-third of the local government areas of the state.
On Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the PDP winner of all the three senatorial seats, seven House of Representatives positions and 23 out of the 24 House of Assembly seats.
Reacting to the development on Saturday, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP National Publicity Secretary, congratulated all its candidates in the state.
It assures the people of Zamfara State of a purposeful, people-based and result-oriented leadership that will unite and revitalize the state for the greater good, in line with the wishes and aspiration of the people.
While urging the people of Zamfara State to resist all forces of division and unite behind their new leaders to move the state forward, the party said Zamfara is blessed with abundant human and natural resources adding that the in-coming administration will direct all energies towards harnessing such resources for the wellbeing of all the people.
In congratulating the people of Zamfara state, the PDP expressed optimism that justice will prevail in its effort to retrieve all its stolen mandate, particularly the Presidential mandate that Nigerians freely gave to Atiku Abubakar, at the courts.
