Paying to get slapped by beautiful ladies while you wait for the food you ordered sounds like something that can only take place in a movie.
This was the reality at a Japanese restaurant named Shachihoko-ya in Nagoya.
This peculiar service, the ‘Nagoya Lady’s Slap’, not only brought in additional revenue for the company but also attracted more and more customers anxious to enjoy this uncommon pre-meal ritual.
Interestingly, after the slaps, customers didn’t seem angry; they seemed more at ease and even expressed gratitude to the employees who had provided the unusual service.
When the face-slapping service was introduced, only one female staff was performing the service. However, additional staff members were hired upon growing demand, and a fee of 100 Yen per slap was introduced.
It was reported that at some point, the restaurant demanded up to 500 Yen from customers to select the staff person who would slap them.

However, this peculiar service has now been discontinued. The restaurant shared a post announcing the discontinuation of their popular face-slapping service after old videos started doing rounds on the internet.
The establishment asked people not to visit, expecting to be slapped in a recent announcement on X.
“Shachihoko-ya currently does not offer slaps. We appreciate its attention today, but we cannot accommodate visits to receive slaps. We did not expect old videos to go viral like this, so please understand before coming,” odditycentral.com quotes the restaurant as saying in a statement.
Even though this service has been discontinued, it still attracts a lot of traffic.
Would you consider paying for a unique dining experience that involves being playfully slapped by charming individuals, regardless of gender, as part of an interactive pre-meal ritual?
