In a bid to increase consumers’ options of quality diary products, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, dairy company and milk manufacturer in Nigeria, has launched ‘Peak Wazobia’ and a range of other low unit portion packs (LUPP) of Peak, includingThree Crowns evaporated and powdered milk.
This is also in line with the company’s mission to nourish Nigerians with quality dairy nutrition and help manage the growing incidences of malnutrition across the country as these product offerings come at affordable prices and are same premium quality as the big size packs.
In a press statement issued in Lagos, Rahul Colaco, the company’s Managing Director said, ”We are key players in feeding Nigerians; for us this is a privilege and a responsibility that we are fully committed to. Of course this initiative is fully linked with the pillar of our mission statement which addresses issues of nutrient security.”
“This pillar focuses on issues of malnutrition which is also a growing national concern. We believe that with daily consumption of milk through increased accessibility of quality dairy nutrition, consumers have the opportunity of getting up to 50% of the nutrients that they require daily, which the body cannot make on its own,” he added.
Colaco explained that Peak Wazobia’ was introduced to make ‘Rich & Creamy Peak’ evaporated milk, accessible to all Nigerians, whether they live in towns or villages, work in offices or study in schools, everyone needs complete and quality nutrition.
“With the recent market launch of Peak Wazobia pack, FrieslandCampina WAMCO therefore presents a basket of low unit single serve packs at prices that fits everyone’s pocket. These small packs contain the same milk as the bigger packs and thus contain the same quality consumers expect,” he said.
At the products launch, Ebenezer Ojefitimi, Professor of Community Health Nutrition & Nutrition Consultant, LAUTECH, Ogbomosho, in his presentation titled, “The Role of Dairy in Promoting Nutrition: A Public Health Perspective” highlighted the significant benefits of quality nutrition in preventing issues of malnutrition across all life stages and economic groups.
According to Ojefitimi, “dairy and its products should be endorsed as an integral component of healthy patterns. After all, they are nutritionally beneficial, environmentally sustainable, economically viable and culturally acceptable. Dairy and its products have the potential to assist us to achieve our number 4 and 5 MDGs.”
Some of the low unit portion parks include Three Crowns powder with low cholesterol, three Crowns evaporated milk in Sachet with low cholesterol, Peak evaporated milk in sachet, Peak Choco, Peak powdered milk, new Three Crowns LUPP, Peak Wazobia LUPP and Peak Fristi Vanilla Flavored Milk.
