The Managing Director of Access Bank, Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe and a very close competitor, The Managing Director of Heritage Bank, Ifie Sekibo are proportionately leading the competition as they race for the most deserved Personality to receive the distinguished “Career Excellence Award of the Year,” ahead of the forthcoming 2020 8th edition of the prestigious Democracy Heroes Award.
The nominations for the Career Excellence Award of the Year category also includes the Managing Director/CEO of Eco Bank, Ade Ayeyemi and Ebenezer N. Onyeagwu, the MD/CEO of Zenith Bank who amongst the Managing Directors of Access bank and Heritage Bank have gathered more votes according to reports.
According to the organising committee of the 8th edition of Democracy Heroes Awards themed, “The Power of Togetherness,” shows that votes for Access Bank MD, Herbert Onyewumbu and Heritage Bank MD, Ofie Sekibo were quite at almost a tie, as voters continue to load in votes to ensure that their Choice-Nominee receives 2020 Career Excellence Award of the Year at the most anticipated Democracy Heroes Award which will be hosted in Abuja.
Both bank CEOs are quite on the same pace in terms of vote counts and participation from Nigerians with regards to their impacts and inputs in the development of the nation’s economy, especially the banking sector.
Access Bank, under Wigwe has received several national and international awards that has upheld his outstanding business sustainability capacity over the years, with emphasis on his responsive reactions and interventions to emergency problems in the sector, especially with the recent immediate refund of Stamp Duty which was debited from some Access bank users across Nigeria.
On the other hand, the MD of Heritage Bank has continued to gather impressive votes and observers of the voting exercise has described the outcome to be premised on the numerous support and engaging partnership of Heritage Bank in the empowerment and sustainability of development initiatives from young proactive Nigerians.
