The Vistara x NYSC campaign has concluded its Lagos activities, closing with a social media content competition that saw corps member Josephine Adetula win the ₦100,000 grand prize.
The initiative, organised by Vistara Solutions, was designed to help corps members of Batch B Stream 1 explore skills beyond their national service. Under the theme Beyond the Khaki, the campaign encouraged participants to consider opportunities within Nigeria and abroad while building practical experience in digital engagement, mentorship, and professional development.
A key highlight of the campaign was the Social Media Content Creation Competition. Corps members were challenged to create digital content that showcased Vistara’s study abroad support programmes. The competition drew wide interest from the camp community and tested participants’ creativity, digital skills, and ability to promote ideas to an online audience.
Josephine Adetula, a Mass Communication graduate from Adekunle Ajasin University and known on Instagram as @thepen_evangelist, emerged as the winner. Her entry gained 5,467 views, 566 likes, 410 comments, 110 shares, 17 reposts, and four bookmarks.
Speaking after her win, Adetula thanked her colleagues in the NYSC Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS) team for their support. She said: “I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity. Content creation is something I have always loved to do, and I can say this is my first time winning this big from it. And to those who contested with me, thank you for making the ride worthwhile. I would always be rooting for Vistara because I love what they do, and I am grateful that they fulfilled their promise. I plan to use the funds to print free copies of my books for teenagers in Nigeria.”
Beyond the competition, Vistara hosted a series of activities for corps members. These included the Inter-Platoon Debate Competition, presentations on study abroad pathways, one-on-one consultations, and mentorship sessions. While the debate created a platform for intellectual discussion, the content competition placed emphasis on digital literacy and personal branding.
Christiana Salmwang, State Coordinator of NYSC Lagos, commended Vistara’s approach. She noted: “I encourage my corps members to develop soft and relevant skills that make them self-sufficient and independent, and I welcome all initiatives like this competition that encourage this mentality.”
Afolabi Kazeem, Digital Marketing Manager at Vistara and lead campaign coordinator, said the programme aligns with the organisation’s mission to support Nigerian youth. He explained: “We plan to go bigger and better next time. We at Vistara Solutions are committed to putting Nigerian youths on the map through different initiatives and competitions that propel them to the world stages. I honestly urge Nigerian Youth to watch out for Vistara Solutions, because this is just the beginning.”
Throughout the camp, corps members actively engaged with Vistara’s tent, consultations, and mentorship offerings. Many also used the opportunity to develop their online presence and gain insights into international education opportunities, including scholarships, visa support, and tailored guidance.
The campaign also featured the Beyond the Khaki initiative, which documented the experiences of corps members while reflecting on their aspirations and challenges during service.
As the programme concluded, Vistara confirmed that future initiatives will include competitions, mentorship sessions, and advisory services designed to expand access to education and professional opportunities. The organisation encouraged corps members and young Nigerians to stay connected through its social media channels for upcoming activities.
The campaign showed that when given platforms for mentorship, skill-building, and creative expression, young Nigerians can position themselves for opportunities both within the country and abroad. From debates to digital content creation, the Lagos camp demonstrated how targeted initiatives can help corps members prepare for life beyond service.
