W Collective, a platform targeted at changing the narrative of gender equality among African women in their careers and respective industries is set to debut its Executive Women’s Lounge during the World Economic Forum Africa on September 5th, 2019, at the Nasdak Rooftop, Cape Town, South Africa.
W Collective strives to herald and ensure the growth of women-led management roles in Africa. To achieve this goal, W collective will provide a dedicated space at conferences and companies where women can connect, collaborate and catalyze change together.
The platform will serve as an institutional hub to meet and interact with industry leaders, align interests, embrace diversity, all in a receptive and relaxed ambience.

Founders of the platform noted that in Africa, only 1 in 3 CEOS had gender diversity on their agenda. For the modern African woman, the career margin seems to be widening, owing to the gap in collaborative opportunities among C-level women, female business owners and budding female executives.
The W Collective seeks to change the narrative by focusing on the demand and supply side of barriers to gaining a diversity dividend that can navigate the challenges and trigger a steady transformation in workplace culture.
Unlike traditional conferences, the W Collective will adopt more intimate and interactive cultural elements where women can engage in deep dives, trade both practical and theoretical perspectives and bear their hearts on what they have seen, done, tried and still seek collectively to accomplish.
As it unveils in the course of this year’s WEF Africa, the platform will converge leaders from the public and private sectors, international organizations, and civil society to discuss concrete opportunities to accelerate women’s corporate leaders across the region.
The first gathering will feature prominent leaders from various regions and sectors taking participants through a carefully curated line-up of conversations, dialogues, fireside chats one-on-one sessions, and lots more.
The central message of the W Collective is collaboration and inclusivity; ‘one city at a time’ as the platform seeks to feature in major global economic and social events across the region in the nearest future.
The W Collective is committed to advancing equality in the workplace through collaboration, activating viable solutions, and creating metrics for accountability. Diversity and inclusion add a competitive advantage to build stronger and more successful organizations.
