Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has forwarded a list of nominees for appointment as Commissioners and Special Advisers to the state House of Assembly.
The list attached to a letter dated 20th June 2019 and presented to the House by the Clerk, Mandu Umoren during plenary showed that over 90 percent of the nominees were members of the recently resolved state executive council.
Among the nominees according to the list include; Akan okon, Ime Ekpo NSE Essien, Uwemedimo Nwoko, Monday Uko, Linus Nkan, Okpulupum Etteh, Ephraim Inyaneyen, Ekong Sampson, Charles Udoh, who were members of the dissolved state executive council.
Also, Orman Esin, Iniobong Essien, Dominic Ukpong and Gloria Edet,
Udo Ekpenyong, Ukpong Akpabio, Uno Etim, Rapheal Bassey,.Victor Bassey made the list.
And the nominees for appointment as Special Advisers include; Sunny Ibuot and Ekemini Umoh.
Receiving the letter and list of nominees, the Speaker, Aniekan Bassey committed same to the committee on Judiciary, Human Right and Public Petitions, inaugurated shortly after presentation of the lists and urged it to deliberate and report to the House in a week’s time.
The governor had earlier said that he would not make any changes in the composition of the executive council.
Observers say it is par of the move to ensure continuity as well as stability of his administration.
Others have however expressed concern over the retention of some nominees who have spent more than eight years as members of the state executive council.
