PDP-logoA chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Dickson Nwosu, has advised fellow politicians in the country to desist from the syndrome of use and dump of the electorates who gave them the mandate to be at the top.

Nwosu, in exclusive interview with BusinessDay in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, reminded those whose victories had been affirmed recently by the Election Petition Tribunals to look inwards by embracing those who fought for them before coasting to victories.

He noted that it had been a convention for elected office holders to dumb the electorate as soon as they achieve their objective and purpose.

“Those elected in the past had strained relationship with the electorates. It was like that of cat and rat. I don’t want this trend to continue in the present dispensation,” said Nwosu.

The PDP stalwart noted however that even though some people might have in one way or the other benefitted from such politicians, but the percentage was very negligible.

The politician lauded the recent Scholarship Foundation recently floated by the immediate past governor of Abia State and senator representing Abia Central at the Senate, Theodore A, Orji, for tertiary institution students from the zone.

He however advised the operator of the scheme to ensure that indigent students were given preferential treatment when it kicks off.

Nwosu also appealed to the Abia State government to as a matter of urgency find a lasting solution to the perennial logjam at Aba-Owerri Road in Aba, which had subjected motorists to untold hardship for hours on daily basis.

The PDP chieftain further called on Federal Government to come up with palliative measures to avert more carnage on our roads, particularly federal roads that were in deplorable conditions, especially in the South-East part of the nountry.

He also advised governors in the zone to embark on rehabilitation of some of the roads and thereafter make demand for refund from the Federal Government for money expended in carrying out such works.
