The South East Governors’ Forum has congratulated Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State on his recent victory at the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court, last week, upheld the nomination of Governor Ugwuanyi as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 governorship election in Enugu State.
Reacting to the development, the Chairman of the Forum, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, in a pre-meeting briefing at the Government House, Enugu weekend, told newsmen that the victory was “a confirmation that was already given by God from the day he stepped in as the Governor of Enugu State”, adding: “We want to say that the Lord who started the journey with you will see you through in your two tenures”.
The Forum also congratulated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State for their victories at the Supreme Court and Tribunal, respectively, saying: “We know that the Lord who began this good work will definitely conclude it.”
According to the Forum, “Our prayer is that this distraction should stop. So we call on our brothers and sisters from the South East to be the wise men from the East and desist from all these unnecessary distractions”.
He commended the Federal Government for the recent pronouncement on the second Niger Bridge, believing that “this will be the last pronouncement on that bridge”.
