The Senate has sworn-in two senators one from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Isaac Alfa (PDP, Kogi East) and Benjamin Uwajumogu (APC, Imo North) were sworn-in by Senate President Bukola Saraki at Tuesday’s plenary.

The development brings the number of senators in the 8th Senate to 105, even as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to conduct elections in four senatorial districts in Rivers State and Anambra Central.

To this end, the ruling party now controls 60 lawmakers, as against PDP’s 44 and Labour Party’s one.

By implication, the APC now commands  57 percent of the legislative body, as against PDP’s 42 percent and LP’s one percent.
