The Senate on Thursday resolved to hold a joint session with the House of Representatives by summoning President Muhammadu Buhari to address lawmakers over the spate of killings across the country.
It, however, rejected the calls for state of emergency in Benue State.
It also rejected the representative of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, who was summoned to brief the Senate on the arrest of the embattled Chairman, Senate Committee on FCT, Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi West) and killings across the country.
Senate President Bukola Saraki who presided over the session, described the refusal of the police boss to appear as an affront on the legislature.
He therefore asked the IGP to appear before senators unfailingly on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 by 11am.
Although Deputy Senate Majority Leader, Ibn N’Allah had revealed that the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, had pleaded that the DIG Operation, Joshak Kabila, represent his boss, this was rejected by senators.
