Get ready to laugh at the first ever all female comedy show night ‘Ladies of Laughter’ (LOL), a live comedy event, with women, to celebrate international women’s day.
The maiden event sponsored by Q21 solutions is set to hold next week, Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos.
The evening will feature Chigurl as host, Mandy, Helen Paul, Wofai Fada, Princess, Lepacious Bose, Lolo 1 and many more who will leave entertained and in stitches at the same time.
According to the organizers, the idea behind the event evolved from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5, which speaks of empowering women and achieving equality as an important key to the development of Africa.
Speaking with the media on Friday, Eunice Adeyemi, managing partner, Q21 Solutions, said the African woman is faced with several challenges, from trying to break the glass ceilings in the workplace to the requirements of being a wife, mother and woman in a society that many times demands she sees herself as less than equal.
“This would be a platform that serves as an enabler for women comedians; showcasing leading ladies in the industry from across the continent and assisting potential female comedians a chance to share the stage with their seasoned counterparts.
“These ladies would entertain us by sharing from the joys of motherhood to ‘man problem’, no topic are sacred in this show. So get the ladies together, bring the men in tow and get set for a grand night of comic relief,” Adeyemi said.
The show holding on International Women’s Day was deliberately fixed, so that women’s voices can be heard through comedy. “I urge you all to come out and encourage us in doing what we love doing” said Chigurl.
Omotunde Adebowale also known as Lolo1 added that comedy is life and making out a craft for you. “Women are embodied with many talents, so we want to give ourselves the chance to be seen because stereotype on women needs to be changed.
“Women multitask and that is what makes their work challenging,” Adebowale said
