Members of the Peo- ples Democratic Party (PDP) yes- terday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call members of the All Pro- gressives Congress (APC), whom they described as rioters, to order.
Leo Ogor, (PDP-Delta), said this when he led the opposition parties to a press briefing after the adjourn- ment of the plenary session that abruptly ended follow- ing protest over refusal of Speaker Yakubu Dogara to read the letter from the APC chairman, John Odigie- Oyegun.
On the choice of the principal officers of the op- position party, he assured that the caucus was yet to elect the four principal offi- cers, saying the exercise will be done without rancour.
In the letter Refer- ence No: APC/NHDQ/ NAM/01/015/06 and dated June 23, 2015, Oyegun wrote – Femi Gbajabiamila, South West (House Leader); Al- hassan Ado Doguwa, North West (Deputy House Lead- er); M. T Monguno, North East (Chief Whip) and Pally Iriase, South South (Deputy Chief Whip), were the four principal officers approved by the party after due con- sultation.
Ogor said what hap- pened was unparliamenta- ry and that from the minori- ty position, it was important to put the facts before the public, saying “because of issues that border on some level of agitation he (Doga- ra) decided that we go into executive session to discuss as parliamentarians.
“A very embarrassing and unpleasant action took place from the APC group, they decided to take laws into their hands, turned the House upside down and went as far as even carry- ing the Mace, which is the symbol of authority.
“Today became like a wasted day because motions that were supposed to have been taken that border on matters of national urgent importance that affect our constituencies. A host of other issues, we were unable to take them due to unac- ceptable action that you saw on the floor of the House.
“I think we are starting on a wrong footing coupled with the fact that crisis cre- ated in this senerio by the ruling party I sincerely on behalf of my colleagues want to apologise to Nige- rian people and our con- stituents.
“You gave us a clear opportunity to represent you, this is not what we in- tend doing neither this kind of representation is what we intend doing in the green chamber.
