…Kano emerges best managed CBN branch
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has identified patronizing goods and services produce in Nigeria as one of the dominant factors required in the on-going quest to revalue the national currency-the Naira.
The Bank is of the view that when Nigerians patriotically consumed locally produced products, rather than the current trend in which most citizens have preference for foreign products, it will go a long way boosting the value of the Naira.
Adebayo Adelabu, deputy governor, in charge of operations of CBN, says the greatest desire of the present leadership of the apex bank was to ensure that the Naira is strengthened, and it is doing everything possible to achieve this objective.
Speaking at a dinner organized by Kano Branch of the CBN to celebrate the ‘Best Managed Branch’ award it won recently, Adelabu, who was the chief guest of honour at the event, disclosed that the management team of the bank was delighted with the steady rise in the value of the Naira.
He attributed the development to the proactive and innovative measures adopted by the Governor of the Bank, by ensuring that disbursements of foreign currencies geared towards activities adding value to the economy.
Adelabu stated that CBN as an organ of government charged with financial management of the economy will continue to ensure that emphasis is given to disbursement of FX to productive activities.
“While welcoming everyone to this award dinner, I will not end my address without using this opportunity to let us know one thing which concern us all, and my Governor will also want you know what the Bank is doing which we all have started seeing the result of our patriotic efforts.
“The message the Governor want to pass to all is the need for Nigerians to buy more made in Nigeria goods and services. Doing this is one of the viable ways in which we can strengthen the value of the Naira. Consuming more made –in-Nigeria products means less outflow of FX, and the less our FX goes out, the more value Naira will have.
“I am happy with what I witnessed here today, the Pan Africa spirit demonstrated through wearing of national Dresses by most of the people attending this dinner. By wearing dresses made in Nigeria instead of imported dresses, you are simply creating jobs for Nigerians, and adding value to our economy” he noted.
Commenting on the annual Best Managed Branch Award instituted by the apex bank, the Deputy –Governor described the innovation as a motivational tool conceived to encourage all branches of bank to embrace the value of excellence.
He pointed out that the head office of the bank is aware of the operational challenges confronting it branches, assuring that the management of the bank will do everything possible to address the identified challenges, charging the branches to exhibit excellent leadership.
“While, congratulating the Kano branch for coming first as the best managed branch in the country. This is particularly exciting as this is coming after winning the same position in 2014, I charge all branches of the bank to continue to scale up their services in order to meet customers expectation.
“I also want to assured that we on the part of management will continue to give all necessary supports to all branches to discharge excellent services to the nation” Adelabu further disclosed.

Rabiu highlighted some of the conditionals spelled out which the branches must attained before they can win the award, expressing delight that Kano branch is winning it for the second time, attributable to hard work by the management of the branch.
In her address earlier, Amina Abubakar Pindar, Kano branch controller of the bank, dedicated the award to his entire staff, added that the award will spur the branch to continue on the path of excellence.
