Opportunities abound in Nigeria’s oil & gas, agriculture, solidminerals – Reps tell Spanish investors

The House of Representatives on Thursday solicited for improved collaboration between Nigeria and Spanish government especially in the oil and gas, agriculture, culture and tourism, solid minerals, among others.

Diri Douye, chairman, Ad-hoc Committee on Nigeria/Spain Relations gave the charge during a working visit to the Spanish Embassy in Abuja.

Douye (PDP-Bayelsa) who emphasised the need to deepen the existing bilateral relations between both countries, called on Spanish investors to take advantage of the huge potentials in the diversification policy of the present administration.

The lawmaker who reiterated government’s resolve towards promotion of domestic and foreign investment, expressed optimism that strengthening the existing cordial diplomatic relations between the two countries would enhance the wellbeing of citizens of the two countries through the instrument of parliament.

In his response, Alfonso Sebastian De Erico, Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria, expressed his government’s readiness in promoting stronger relations between the two countries.

“Nigeria is a very generous society and we are very proud to be part of this generosity that we would want the rest of the world to explore Nigeria’s tourism potential.

“We congratulate Nigeria for winning the fight against Boko Haram. We are aware of the economic challenges in the country presently and we know that Nigeria can improve and move forward.

“We also congratulate Nigeria on the peaceful transmission of power. We promise to promote  stronger relations between Nigeria and Spain,” the he assured the House of Representatives’ delegation.
