Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) on Friday claimed responsibility for another attack on Agip-Eni facilities in Bayelsa
BusinessDay reports that the militant responsibility was tweeted via its twitter handle, @NDAvengers.
The twitter read thus: “3:am of Friday @NDAvengers blow up the Obi Obi Brass Trunkline belonging to Agip ENI. It is Agip’s Major Crude oil Line in Bayelsa State.”
The group said the action was in line with its vow not to relent in attacks on oil and gas facilities in the region.
It was learnt that the said crude line is a major crude oil line belonging to Agip-Eni, an oil multi-national had recently been subjected to several attacks by the militants.
The management of Agip-Eni had last weekend reportedly shut about 140,000 bpd (barrels per day) of crude following an attack on its facilities, for which the NDA also claimed responsibility.
However, the NDA commended international communities over alleged reports that it considered withdrawing patronage for the buying of crude oil from Nigeria.
This was also contained in the group twitter on Friday.
It applauded buyers of Nigeria crude over its decision to shun the nation oil market owing to the disruptive activities of the militanta.
According to the twitter message, any decision by the international community to shun Nigeria’s oil is commendable. Nigerian government had been denying the people of the Niger Delta benefits of its God-given hydrocarbon resources.
It urged the country’s customers not to buy Nigeria’s oil until issues bordering on alleged injustice and self-determination demand by the militants or free-fighters in the region were ironed out with the help of the international community.
“It is good as foreign refineries stop buying Nigeria oil because the Nigeria state has been robbing the Niger Delta of her oil and gas”, the NDA said, adding, “We will inform the international communities when we are open for business.” it said.
The group had in a statement on Thursday defended its relentless bombing campaign against oil and gas installations in the Niger Delta, stressing that it was prompted by decades of injustice against the oil-rich region, in terms of meaningful development.
The statement by the NDA spokesman, Mudoch Agbinibo, called on the international community and especially the advanced nations of Europe, Asia and America “to come to the aid of the Niger Delta people” in their quest for self-determination.
