The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) says it will provide women with micro credit facilities as part of efforts to stimulate the development of small businesses and accelerate economic growth in the Niger Delta.
Samuel Frank, Akwa Ibom State representative on the board of the commission who made this known while inaugurating the women elders advisory committee said the policy is aimed at providing a face-lift for women towards ensuring that they become self reliant.
He urged women group leaders to avoid hijacking and diverting funds meant for the common good of the group to the benefit of only a few, assuring that unlike what was obtainable in the past, the present NDDC board will ensure adequate allocation of resources to advancing the cause of women .
According to him, the commission would create jobs, enhance capacity and reduce dependence on government.
Frank also reminded the women of the determination of the President Mahammadu Buhari’s determination to ensure the upliftment of women to enable them play their crucial role in nation building and national development.
The Commissioner assured the women the the Federal Government efforts aimed at providing a globally acceptable electoral process.
