Nasarawa State Governor commends Army Chief in his bid to return normalcy

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai says he is ready to support Nasarawa State to sustain the peace and security currently being enjoyed  at a meeting with Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura at the Government House in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

While appreciating the visit, the Governor commended the efforts of the Army Chief in restoring normalcy in the Northeast region of the country.

The military has heightened counter-terrorism operations in the northeast and operations to end cattle rustling and farmers-herdsmen class in the central region of Nigeria.Their efforts are yielding results, with records of attacks on communities by members of the Boko Haram terrorist group on the decline.

On Thursday, however, troops of Operation Lafiya Dole Task Force Battle Group and Multinational Joint Task Force in Abadam village in Borno State dealt decisively with suspected members of Boko Haram that attempted to attack their location which killed about 15 suspected Boko Haram members and 2 soldiers.
