The Security Council on Thursday met with President Goodluck Jonathan to discuss the handing over as well as the tidying up of the ongoing war against terror in the country, in a build up to the transition of government.
Service chiefs, including chief of defence staff, Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh; chief of army staff, Lt General Kenneth Minimah; chief of naval staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin, and chief of air staff, Air Marshall Adesola Amosu, who are all members of the council, were at the meeting. The director general of the State Security Service (SSS), Ekpeyong Ita, and the director general of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke, were also at the meeting.
This is the first time the council is sitting after the elections. It is expected that it would have briefed the president on the strategies on ground for a smooth transition come May 29 as well as
issues bothering on the mileage of the war against terrorism in the North Eastern region of the country.
