Lagos commences sale of Lake Rice Thursday

The sale of Lake Rice promised by the Lagos State government will officially commence this Thursday (tomorrow) in select locations across the state.
The rice will no longer be distributed at the local government secretariats as earlier announced by the state government. An official confirmed to BusinessDay that the rice is now to be distributed in select locations across the three senatorial districts of the state.
In Lagos East, the rice would be sold at Odogunyan Farm Service Centre, Ikorodu; Temu Farm Service Centre, Epe; Noforija Town Hall, Eredo; Magbon Alade High School, Ibeji, and SUBEB Premises, at Maryland.
In Lagos West, the rice will sell at LSADA Complex/Farm Service Centre, Agege; LAISA Office Agric Bus Stop, Ojo; Muwo-Coconut House, Badagry; Town Farm Service Centre, Marina, and Oshodi and Ikeja Grammar School, Bolade.
In Lagos Central, the rice will sell at Ministry of Agric Area Office, Ajah; LASTMA Office Adeniji/Freeman, Lagos Island; Ajegunle – Alakoto Senior High School, Ajegunle; TESLIM Balogun Stadium, Surulere; Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, and Rowe Park, Yaba.
The rice consignments arrived at the Imota Rice Mill in Ikorodu, from Kebbi State from where the bags of rice were distributed to the various locations.  
Ganiu Okalanwon, special adviser to the state government on food security, had told BusinessDay that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode directed the price to be crashed to N12,000, while the 25kg bag should go for N6,000. Okanlawon disclosed that a committee set up by the government to handle the rice was working out the modalities for an effective distribution, and by this week, the Lake Rice would be available to interested buyers.
