Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau was on Monday returned as the winner of Jos North Senatorial seat by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Rotgak Gofwen, the INEC returning officer, said that Jang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 234,455 to beat Ayisa Sambo of APC who polled 221,241 votes. Joshua Dariye of PDP was returned in Plateau Central with 189,150 votes, while former FCT minister, Gen. Jerry Useni of the PDP won Plateau South with 126,154 votes.
The returning officer, John Akosu of the University of Jos, who announced the result, said Dariye defeated Phillip Dashen of All Progressives Congress who polled 99,326 votes. Useni also defeated Gen. John Shagaya of the APC, who polled 89,788 votes. In the House of Representatives election, former Leadership Newspaper’s political editor, Tim Golu of PDP won the Pankshin/ Kanam/Kanke seat with 77,560 votes. The returning officer, Joel Barde of the Univer- sity of Jos, who announced the result, said Golu defeated Yakubu Gumshak of APC who scored 69,642 votes. Also, Johnbull Shekarau of the PDP won the Mikang/Quan-Pan/Shen- dam constituency with 55,720 votes. Chrsitopher Yilgwan of the University of Jos, who announced the result, said Gabriel Panyir of the APC scored 49,453 votes.
In other results the incumbent, Beni Lar of the PDP, won Lang- tang North and Lang- tang South constituency, while Solomon Maren of PDP, won Mangu/Bokkos constituency. The PDP lost Jos North/ Bassa constituency to the incumbent, Yahaya Kwande of the APC, who polled 113,680 votes. The returning officer, Rotgak said Kwande defeated former works com- missioner, Chris Hassan of the PDP, who got 64,207 votes. (NAN)
