Most of the Petrol filling stations across Abuja metropolis were shut down on Monday evening due to non-availability of premium motor spirit, otherwise known as Petrol. Motorists across Abuja metropolis had hectic time to buy PMS as long queues resurfaced on major streets.
Our Correspondent who moved round the city observed that only NNPC mega station located Jahi, along Zuba – Abuja expressway had PMS as at 7 pm, thereby leading to long queue and causing gridlock on the expressway. Out of the two filling stations located in front of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Maitama, only one has PMS while the other was desolated.

BusinessDay gathered that some of the filling stations belonging to members of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) have increased the pump price of a litre of petrol from N145 to N150. Some motorists on queue who expressed concerns over the development urged Federal Government and relevant regulatory agencies to step up action in curtailing the crisis.
Recall that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) had on the 30th November 2017, issued a statement saying there was no plan to increase fuel price at the depot and at filling stations. According to the Corporation, the ex-depot petrol price of N133.38 per litre and the pump price of N143/N145 per litre had not changed. However, IPMAN had threatened to increase the pump price of the PMS to N160 per litre.
