The House of Representatives was threw into pandemonium during the closed door sesaion hekd on this morning ahead of the debate on the recommendations of the Special Ad-hoc Committee Constitution review.
Crisis started as most of the lawmakers during the closed door session protested over the non-transparency in the management of the unilateral reduction of their statutory allowances and Duty Tour Allowances as well as non-delivery of houses under mortgage arrangement introduced under the current dispensation.
Some of the lawmakers who spoke under condition of anonymity, confirmed that there was impeachment move over various allegations leveled against the House leadership.
Prior to the Constitution which was eventually stalled by dysfunctional electronic voting machine, notable members of the House kicked against to impose documents on the voting pattern on members.
They also frowned at the undue delay in the procurement and distribution of 508 Peugeot vehicle for which only 22 have so far been distributed to few lawmakers.
Some of the aggrieved lawmakers had stormed out of the meeting as a result of unresolved issues bothering on financial impropriety leveled against some principal officers and National Assembly.
Lawmakers who attended the session which lasted for over one hour had queried the reckless spending of some of the deductions from the monthly and quarterly emoluments of the lawmakers.
Recall that some quantum of the deductions were allegedly made for housing projects which is yet to materialised, two years after the deductions.
Our Correspondent observed that several caucuses from various geopolitical zones had on Tuesday and Wednesday met to deliberate on the development, where they resolved to take actions to challenge the highhandedness of the leadership.
Specifically, the North West caucus had earlier held a closed door session where they deliberated on the fate of the House leadership.
Few minutes before the commencement of the plenary session, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also met to harmonise their position.
It was however gathered that frantic efforts are being made by the leadership to quell the crisis, before it gets to public glare.
However, the House resolved to commence voting on the recommendations of the Special Ad-hoc Committee on Constitution Review tomorrow, Thursday, 27th July, 2017.
