FCTA parleys Indian delegation on agriculture, waste management

Muhammad Bello, Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday beckoned on the 22-member Indian business delegation to invest in agriculture and waste management sectors.
Bello who chaired the meeting, explained that there are a lot of agricultural potentials in the Federal Capital Territory awaiting for any would be investor to tap and therefore urged the delegation to critically look at that area.
The Minister who pledged the administration’s readiness to provide enabling environment for Indian investors, explained that Nigeria has comparative advantage in various of different cash crops in the agricultural sub-sector.
According to him, cashew is doing very well in the Federal Capital Territory and that the nuts are exported raw, therefore with a little value added before export, the income can be unimaginable.
The Minister thus, asked the investors to take advantage of this by establishing industries in Abuja to make them into finished products for export.
The Minister reiterated that there are lots of potentials in waste management; saying that a lot of work had been undertaken in that respect in the past.
Bello emphasized that waste can be turned into wealth; stressing that FCT Administration has already developed a blueprint for easy take off of such industry and enjoined the delegation to take advantage of the opportunities.
Speaking at the meeting, the leader of the business delegation, Pradeep Kumar Gupta appreciated the warm reception and promised to further talk to the FCT Administration’s technical officials to take the discussion to the next level.
The Indian delegation led by the Indian Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari had met with the Deputy Speaker Yussuff Lasun who called for assistance in the area of vocational education on technology.
