Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have laid siege at the residence of former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, for receiving N840m from the Director of Finance, Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Senator Nenadi Usman.
According to reliable and authoritative sources, the operatives in company of mobile policemen numbering more than 10, stormed his No 5 Zuma close, off Udi hill street, off Aso Drive, Abuja today.
According to source, “he has been evading questioning for months now, and so there is no way EFCC would take things for granted”.
Fani-Kayode had written on his Facebook page that: “Today the EFCC invited me to come their office on Monday. I have their letter. I agreed to be there. Now they have surrounded my house.
“The letter of invitation was served this morning and it was dated May 6. They said I should report on the 9th. Can someone please tell me why they are at my gate? They can’t even wait because they want to detain me so badly and keep me away for the weekend.
“I never refused their invitation. Why all this? I leave them to God.” Fani-Kayode, who was the Director of Publicity for Jonathan’s campaign organisation, was reported to have been invited for questioning by the EFCC, to explain how his name featured prominently in the alleged scam and he was needed to clarify some issues.
The letter read in part, “The commission is investigating a case of criminal conspiracy, fraud and money laundering involving Joint Trust Dimensions Limited which you featured prominently. In view of the above, you are requested to kindly report.”
As at the time of filing this report, Wilson Uwujaren, spokesperson of the EFCC did not pick nor reply calls sent to his phone.
