The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested George Turnah, a fomer Special Adviser to Mr Dan Abia, erstwhile Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Mr Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, said this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.
Uwujaren said Turneh was arrested in Port Harcourt in connection with alleged possession of funds running into N2 billion.
He said the money was suspected to be funds siphoned from the NDDC while Turnah was serving there as an Adviser.
The EFCC spokesman said that Turnah served in the NDDC between 2012 and 2015.
He said preliminary investigation by the commission revealed that deposits in excess of N2 billion were paid into his personal and company bank accounts.
“A search in his house both in Port Harcourt and Yenogoa by the operatives of the commission yielded useful documents,’ ’ Uwujaren said..
He said Turnah had made useful statements to the EFCC and would be arraigned as soon as investigations were concluded.
