Cadbury West Africa, one of the leading names in beverages and confectionery, has announced the appointment of Bala Yesufu, head of corporate and government affairs, West Africa, to membership of the West Africa Leadership Team (WALT). The appointment took effect on January 1, 2014. WALT is responsible for operational issues and oversees day-to-day running of Cadbury business in West Africa.

In a statement, Emil Moskofian, managing director, Cadbury West Africa, said his appointment was well-deserved, as “Bala brings to WALT tremendous experience and clout in the corporate and government affairs space for West Africa, as well as the FMCG industry. His counsel and participation in the team will be valuable.”

Prior to joining Cadbury West Africa in June 2013, Yesufu, an alumnus of the University of Lagos and Lagos State University, was public affairs manager of the Nigerian Breweries at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. He managed various portfolios during his 20-year career in the organisation. High-point of his career was management of the Heineken brand, which is regarded as the crown jewel of the Heineken family.

Bala has over 30 years experience in the FMCG industry and high level network within the three tiers of government, parastatals, agencies and the legislature.

He is a board member of the Nigeria Tennis Federation; past president of Rotary International, and currently assistant governor of the association.
