Wild celebrations have greeted the victory of APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari in Saturday’s presidential election, as his supporters have taken to streets in Abuja to celebrate the victory.

The supporters barricaded the popular Airport Road at Federal Housing Junction, Lugbe, Abuja, chanting “Sai Buhari”, as commercial motorcycle riders performed various ‘gymnastic’ displays. Also, others who could not hold their joy lay flat on the tarred road, asking few vehicles passing to climb them over. Similarly, billboards of President Goodluck Jonathan were pulled down by the supporters.

Drinking joints visited by our correspondent as of 8:12pm have run out of stock, as some enthusiasts have “declared” for everyone. Meanwhile, the Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), at the just-concluded exercise, Mani Ibrahim Ahmad, has congratulated the APC standard bearer on his victory at the poll. In his congratulatory message Tuesday, the university don said: “The 2015 presidential election which I participated in is indeed historic in terms of the buildup, the election proper and the final outcome.

Nigerians have spoken loud and clear and also demonstrated their ability to put their collective destinies in their hands irrespective of what so ever. “May I add that this is more of a victory for the people of Nigeria.

The expectations are certainly higher now for you to deliver on the promises made. As I congratulate you on this well deserved victory, I also pray that the Almighty will guide and protect you as you steer the ship of state”.
