Benue State Environmental Sanitation Authority (BENSESA) said at the weekend that stiffer measures would be applied to ensure that people comply with the sanitation laws towards a healthy environment.
General manager, Solomon Onah, who made the position of the agency known while fielding questions from newsmen in Makurdi shortly after monitoring sanitation exercise, warned that anybody caught flouting sanitation laws must be made to face the full wrath of the law no matter how highly placed the person was in the society to show as deterrent to others.
Commenting on the sanitation exercise, which was the first outing since assumption of his duty, Onah noted that the experience was worthwhile, stressing, “This is a great success, the peoples’ minds is redirected. The level of compliance in satisfactory.”
Onah assured that the broken down vehicles would be refurbished for enhanced productivity and effective service delivery. He hinted that plans are underway to increase manpower that is lacking in order to move the area forward.
The general manager maintained that the agency under his watch would witness rapid transformation, adding that people would be given new orientation towards sanitation exercise unlike what was obtainable in the past.
He directed zonal coordinators as well as Local Government Supervisors to sensitise the rural communities on the need for them to keep their environments clean.
