The Bayelsa State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja will on April 11, 2016 deliver ruling in an application filed by Timipre Sylva, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the state seeking an order of the Tribunal to allow him inspect the election materials
used for the December 5, 2015 and January 9, 2016 governorship election held in the state.

The Tribunal chairman, Justice Kazeem Alogba, gave the date after taking arguments from parties in the petition challenging the election and declaration of Seriake Dickson as governor of Bayelsa.

In the motion on notice filed and argued by Sebastine Hon on behalf of the petitioner, an order of the Tribunal was sought to compel the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow the petitioner inspect election materials used for the polls.

Among the 37 materials sought to be inspected are the ballot papers used and thumb printed and counted as valid, the ballot papers recorded as spoilt, un-used and print out of records of accreditation as captured by the Smart Card Reader.
