The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has commended Dangote Group of Companies for investing N217 billion to establish a sugar factory in the state.

The Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, who gave the commendation on Tuesday in Lafia, said the factory would generate employment for youths and ensure economic development of the state.

The speaker assured Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the President of the Dangote group of companies of full legislative backing to ensure the success of the project in the state.

He said “when the N217 billion sugar factory becomes operational, it will create multiplicity of jobs for not less than 30,000 people and increase the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

“It will also boost the socio-economic development of the state and enable us to fight poverty, among other benefits.

“We, therefore, commend Gov. Tanko Al-Makura for creating the enabling environment for Alhaji Aliko Dangote to invest in our state to boost the welfare of our people.

“We also assure Dangote company of adequate legislative backing and commend him for investing such a huge amount of money to establish a sugar factory in Nasarawa State.”

He urged the people to jealously guard the initiative when completed and to continue to live in peace to attract more investors to the state in particular and the country in general.

The speaker also urged other wealthy Nigerians to emulate Dangote’s humility and philanthropic spirit, adding that people must rise to develop the country.

Dangote said he was planning to invest N217 billion in the establishment of a sugar company in Nasarawa State.

He made the disclosure on March 17 when he paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Tanko Al-Makura in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
