Armed Police operatives have taken over the National Health Insurance Scheme( NHIS), office in Abuja.
Workers were surprised when they got to the office and saw armed policemen around the premises, meanwhile the workers of NHIS have vowed to continue with their protest.
It would be recalled that last week Thursday, NHIS workers protested the reinstatement of the suspended Executive Secretary of the scheme Usman Yusuf, by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The workers under the aegis of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSUN), and Medical and Health Workers of Nigeria (MHWUN), NHIS branch, converged on the NHIS office in Utako, Abuja, protesting and calling on President Buhari to revisit the Executive Secretary’s investigation.
The controversial Executive Secretary on July 2017, was asked by the Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole to proceed on three months suspension with immediate effect, over allegations of embezzling over N700million.
The unions are insisting that President Buhari was not properly briefed and therefore should take a second look at the reinstatement of the NHIS Executive Secretary.
