The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has frowned at the lopsidedness in the federal appointments into political offices from the Zone. This is as the organisation called on the Muslims in the region to, once again, pray congregationally for peace in the country before, during and after the polls.

Rising from the Second MUSWEN Strategic Retreat held at Wale Babalakin Estate in Gbongan, Osun State, the group said appointments clearly put the South West Muslims at a disadvantage. It called for equity, fairness and justice by the Federal government for the people of the zone irrespective of their religious inclinations. The group, which is the apex body of all Muslim organisations in the South West said the prayers became necessary as the 2015 general election draw nearer.

It therefore specifically slated Sunday, March 22, 2015 for the prescribed prayers expected to hold at the Eid praying grounds or local Mosque in every town within the region. In a communiqué issued at the end of a three-day retreat signed by Dawud Noibi, a professor and its executive secretary, MUSWEN said since prayer is the weapon of the Muslims, they should not relent in offering prayers especially at this precarious time of the nation’s history.
