European football governing body UEFA has launched an investigation into four Real Madrid players, including Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, for alleged misconduct during Los Blancos’ Champions League last-16 victory over Atletico Madrid.
Madrid’s star forwards, along with Antonio Rudiger and Dani Ceballos, could face potential disciplinary action ahead of their quarter-final first-leg clash against Arsenal on April 8.
“A UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector has been appointed to investigate allegations of indecent conduct by Real Madrid CF players,” UEFA confirmed in a statement.
Reports in Spain suggest the probe focuses on Real Madrid’s post-match celebrations, following their dramatic penalty shootout victory over Atletico at the Metropolitano Stadium on March 12.
The match ended in controversy after Atletico forward Julian Alvarez had a penalty disallowed in the shootout for allegedly touching the ball twice.
Neither UEFA nor Real Madrid has responded to requests for comment.
