Once again, the organisers of Accra Weizo, a foremost travel expo, are putting finishing touches to this year’s edition of the annual travel show.

Now in its 8th edition, the West African Travel fair, will hold from June 27 – July 1, 2025. The expo conference will take place on June 27th, while the post conference fam trips will run from June 28 – July 1st.

The event, which opened to all tour operators in West Africa and beyond, is offering more excitement this year with massive fam trip across three countries, 5 resorts, night beach party, visit to over 15 hotels, cultural immersion, among others.

Organised by Akwaaba African Travel Market and endorsement and support by the Ghana Tourism Development Corporation, the Accra Weizo Expo is designed to promote tourism growth and cooperation in the region. It aims to simplify travel within West African cities, standardize tourism facilities, streamline airport and border processes, and showcase professional service providers from the region.

This year’s edition will feature the West Africa Tour Operators Summit under the theme: “Re-Imagining the ECOWAS Free Movement Protocol.” The summit will bring together leading voices from the travel, tourism, aviation, and hospitality sectors to explore ways of enhancing regional integration and seamless cross-border travel in West Africa.

Moreover, it has received support from governments and industry stakeholders.
In a pre-event visit by the organisers,
Kobby Mensah, CEO of GTDC, received Ikechi Uko, CEO Akwaaba African Travel Market, the organisers, in his office in Accra, and promised to support the Trans West African Road Trip organised for Weizo.

Hence, the event will also feature a fam tour for tour operators in West Africa to some of Ghana’s iconic tourism sites.

Alao, in a bid to bolster tourism development in Ghana, Abeiku Aggrey, deputy CEO, Marketing and Special Duties, Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), held a strategic meeting with Uko.
The meeting aimed to strengthen the GTA’s collaboration with Akwaaba Travel Expo ahead of hosting Accra Weizo 2025 as the event is expected to bring together West African tour operators to immerse themselves in Ghana’s rich tourism offerings, and empowering them to promote the country effectively.

By partnering with Akwaaba Travel Expo, the GTA hopes to showcase Ghana’s unique cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and natural attractions to a wider audience. The collaboration is expected to yield positive outcomes for Ghana’s tourism industry, including increased visitor arrivals and revenue generation.

According to the organisers, Accra Weizo 2025 event promises to be a game-changer for Ghana’s tourism sector, and the GTA’s partnership with Akwaaba Travel Expo is a significant step towards achieving this goal.

With the meeting marking a crucial milestone in the lead-up to the event, stakeholders are optimistic about the potential benefits that this partnership will bring to Ghana’s tourism industry.
