For the past 4 years, convener of ‘The International Woman Leadership Conference (TIWLC),’ IBUKUN AWOSIKA, has led women around the world to Dubai to hear and learn how to actualise their goals and live their dreams through yearly themes that align with the conference. With seasoned speakers, this event has been one to attend. This year was exceptional and we share with you the experiences of some women who attended. KEMI AJUMOBI writes.

When I signed up for The International Women’s Leadership Conference (TIWLC), I honestly was not sure what to expect. However, as the organisers began to unveil the speakers my excitement for the event grew. The professionalism and the engagement ahead of the event is also noteworthy. The first day was light and fun as we got to mingle with delegates and see everyone’s beautiful African prints. The second and third days truly exceeded every expectation I had of the conference. My first thought before anyone got on stage was the awe of seeing 600 delegates convene from all over the world, the hunger and yearning was almost palpable. The speakers, all accomplished in their various fields, inspired us by sharing the highs and lows of their journeys with grace but also vulnerability. The overarching theme from the majority of the speakers was the importance of doing a lot of self-evaluation. Majority of the speakers also emphasised the importance of having a strong support system. It truly was a safe space where women were made to feel seen and heard, knowing they are not alone on this journey called life. The gala on the last day was a colourful event with ladies showcasing attires from around the world. I left feeling reinvigorated, empowered and inspired.
I want to use this opportunity to give a heartfelt thank you to Mrs Ibukun Awosika for her labour of love. I truly felt poured into and excited to implement the knowledge I gained into every facet of my life. I would like to encourage any lady who is looking for a shift to attend next year’s conference. This was not just a conference, it was a transformational experience.

I had the privilege of attending The 4th International Women’s Leadership Conference, an initiative of Ibukun Awosika Which held at Grand Hyatt Dubai from 19th -21st March 2025.
It’s a Leadership conference that brings women across Africa and the diaspora together for knowledge, empowerment, collaboration and networking.
This year’s conference, themed “Living the Dream,” provided a platform to bridge the gap between technical knowledge and other necessary skills required to thrive in leadership positions. The three-day conference was packed with impactful masterclasses, plenary sessions, and conference sessions.
I attended the “Woman, Her Ambition, and Relationship” session, which resonated with many women on how to handle relationships and workplace challenges. The IESE Business School bonus session with Professor Kandarp Mehta stimulated our minds on how large organizations can innovate like agile start-ups.
The conference featured keynote speakers, including Ibukun Awosika, Sam Adeyemi, Bolaji Sofoluwe, Lucy Quist, and Fola Adeola. The plenary sessions showcased women from all walks of life, sharing real-life experiences of dream chasers and challenges in living the dream. The Open Mic session, hosted by Tara Fela-Durotoye, was also a highlight.
My 7 Key Takeaways: (7 Transformative Takeaways to Elevate My Leadership)
1. “Every woman is a product of her assets and liabilities. We need to take steps knowing that the big things we see are products of small things that add up together” – Ibukun Awosika.
2. “Our level of creativity is measured by our output. Thinking out of the box doesn’t exist, so we always have to expand the box to innovate.” – Professor Kandarp Mehta.
3. “You are good enough to lead, so endeavor to lead with your authentic self.” – Ibukun Awosika.
4. “Your golden thread is being aware of what you want to be known for and then doing the needful till you find a relevant seat at the table that matters to you.” – Bolaji Sofoluwe.
5. “If you feel alone, don’t stay alone. Have the courage to seek out people that challenge you to grow at all times.” – Cindy Quist.
6. “Your leadership legacy requires a clear vision of the future, the power to keep dreaming, and putting into operation the SHIFT principles.” – Sam Adeyemi.
7. “Many dreams can be achieved through collaboration if we focus on what we can give and not get.” – Fola Adeola.
The conference provided a common ground where women had access to each other, drawing support, insight, clarifying vision, shedding limitations, and dreaming again. It was refreshing, life-transforming, and a stepping stone for dreamers who will end up sitting on leadership tables and standing on stages, providing transformation to the women and world around them.

This is my third time attending The International Women’s Leadership Conference (TIWLC) in Dubai. The conference always has an amazing line up of speakers who inspire me and keep me fired up on my motherhood and entrepreneurial journey especially as I come in contact with mothers and children everyday.
This years’ experience was nothing short of amazing and the speakers delivered as usual. From the keynote speakers who did justice to the theme of this year’s conference, ‘Women in Leadership, Living the Dream’ to hearing the speakers share their vulnerable side of their journey while chasing the “Dream”. It was such a humbling and inspiring experience especially for me as a mum to 9 year old triplets in child care business, it reminded me that I am not alone in my motherhood experience, and to keep going on building and living the dream. It also reminded me that living the dream doesn’t have to be perfect and not a straight journey but to keep at it.
As the Chief Strategist and Growth Expert for Amal Botanicals Baby Care, I was also inspired and blessed by Rev. Sam Adeyemi’s session on building legacy. I look forward to the next conference and by God’s Grace, I hope to come with a senior female staff of Amal Botanicals to be inspired too.

Attending The International Woman Leadership Conference (TIWLC) in Dubai for the first time was nothing short of transformative. As someone deeply invested in creating opportunities for African businesses through NBCTRADEFAIR, this event was a masterclass in leadership, access to markets, and high-value networking.
One of the most exciting highlights of this year’s conference is the introduction of the African Marketplace, a dedicated space to showcase African brands to a global audience. I’m honoured to be working with the TIWLC team to bring this vision to life. This initiative aligns perfectly with my mission at NBCTRADEFAIR—helping entrepreneurs expand beyond their local borders and seize new market opportunities.
Networking at TIWLC was not just about exchanging business cards—it was about meaningful connections that open doors. With NBCTRADEFAIR expanding to Houston, New York, and London this year, meeting fellow women leaders, investors, and potential partners at the conference reinforced the power of collaboration. These conversations have already set the stage for strategic alliances that will make our international trade fairs even more impactful.
TIWLC 2025 was more than a conference; it was a catalyst. A reminder that when women come together with a shared vision, we don’t just lead—we build, we expand, and we create lasting impact. I’m excited for what’s to come and grateful for the experience. Dubai has been rewarding, but the real work starts now. Let’s get it!

Ndidi Ukaonu, Author, Speaker, Director Parthian Capital Limited
The TIWLC conference is always very impactful but this year’s growth in impact was exponential! This is definitely one conference every woman must aspire to attend. The peer learning, experience sharing and key note addresses were spot on giving life to the theme – living the dream.
The conference was the hub for so much more going on during the conference. Networking across countries and continents, business/investment side bars, mentorship and coaching, private sector and public sector partnership. I feel so full, so energised to make good on the promise to change life.
Something incredibly special stood head and shoulders above it all, the enigma that is Ibukun Awosika, not her person but how it is that a person can be consumed by her purpose. This is something we must all aspire to, at least I do. This was a life altering conference in every respect.

Noxolo Sishuba, Director, Bonoxy Group
I was particularly moved by the speaker Lucy Quicy, who talked about vulnerability; she spoke from the heart, and her authenticity left a lasting impression on me. It was refreshing to hear someone openly share their experiences, which inspired me to reflect on my own journey.
Ibukun Awosika, consistently reminded us to be true to ourselves, creating a welcoming environment that fostered connection and self-discovery. She highlighted that we should look after ourselves as we are the core of everything.
Another highlight was the speaker who shared insights on opening a bank. His expertise was impressive, and they offered valuable information that left us all feeling inspired.
Additionally, the discussions about the power of collaboration were truly enlightening. It’s amazing to see how working together and leveraging each other’s strengths can lead to incredible outcomes. The emphasis on teamwork and building supportive networks resonated with many of us and highlighted the importance of fostering relationships in both personal and professional settings.
Overall, the combination of heartfelt storytelling, practical knowledge, and inspiring messages about collaboration made for an unforgettable event!
Hassen said “One hand does not clap. All the speakers and hosts of all the programmes and the organising committee, you have done a great job. Thank you!

It was my first time attending The International Woman Leadership Conference (TIWLC) that was held in Dubai on the 19th of March to the 21st of March 2025. A time well spent indeed it was! There comes a time in the life of an entrepreneur when you start to feel like you have been there and done that. I was getting to that point in my journey as a business owner, and I desperately needed a push to jolt me back into reality. Yes, I was hungry for more, thirsty for more, desperately in search of a new territory to conquer, but at the same time, tired, confused and not really sure of the best way to go in terms of taking the business yet to another level. The Conference was everything that I needed. It was so inspiring and also quite refreshing. Hearing different women share their stories about their journey as career women and as leaders in their various industries, their struggles, how they overcame the struggles, their tenacity and more importantly their doggedness while conquering the world was priceless!

The stories shared by the speakers at the conference left me truly inspired by their authenticity, courage, and unwavering determination. Their boldness and audacity was a powerful reminder of what women can achieve. I was both surprised and humbled by the number of women who approached me to share how my own journey has positively impacted them. Hearing their testimonials was incredibly encouraging and reminded me of the importance of consistency in pursuing one’s call.
I am so grateful for the new connections I made with some amazing women and I am excited about the potential for collaborative relationships that will help turn our collective visions into reality.
As I reflect on the conference, I’m filled with a sense of purpose and excitement. The stories of growth—from local to regional, and even global—have inspired me to think bigger and push further, and I’m eager to continue processing these lessons as I expand my own territory.
I am deeply grateful to the convener, Ibukun Awosika and the entire team for such an impact, and I look forward to being a part of the future conferences.

It is my very first experience of TIWLC and I was privileged to be given the responsibilities of 3 roles as the co-MC and a panel moderator for the main conference as well as the co-MC for the gala night.
My experiences were two fold. Part of it was a call to duty to work with my fellow MCs, the organising team, the technical teams, the facilitators, the panelists as well as the Convener, – Ibukun Awosika to ensure a seamless flow of the entire event. Our main goal was to make it a meaningful and pleasurable experience for all the delegates.
As a first time attendee, this event is the highlight of my experience in the first quarter of this year. The energy, enthusiasm and smiles of everyone were infectious and invigorating. The keynote speakers and panellists sparked in me a new curiosity to push my dreams bigger and colour outside my preconceived lines. The interactions with the delegates were heartwarming! The hugs and words of encouragement of a job well done were worth much more than a pot of gold. Above all, the new friendships, the laughter and the dancing tunes re-energised me.
This conference also served as a platform for me to curate a new synergistic ecosystem of collaborators to help me think, to help me action my dreams and to help me laugh and unwind when the going gets tough.
I would like to express my profound appreciation to Ibukun Awoshika for giving me this remarkable opportunity. To the entire organising team, Regina, Lola, Kendrik – thank you for the tight and professional collaboration. To Temi and Seun – well done, girls – we did it!
I wish you all the very best in your journeys towards transforming your dreams into actions.
I look forward to TIWLC 2026 with excitement.

I had the privilege of attending the recently concluded The International Woman Leadership Conference (TIWLC) in Dubai, and it was a truly transformative experience. The conference brought together a diverse group of women leaders from around the world, all united by a shared passion for empowerment and excellence. The convener, Ibukun Awosika, and the keynote speakers were inspiring and thought-provoking, sharing their personal stories of resilience, perseverance, and triumph. The panel discussions were engaging and insightful, tackling topics such as workplace realities, the power of collaboration, dream chasers, and breaking barriers.
One of the highlights of the conference was the opportunity to network with like-minded women from various cultures and industries. The energy was electric, and the sense of camaraderie was palpable. We shared our experiences, exchanged ideas, and learnt from each other’s successes and challenges.
My takeaways from the conference are numerous, but some of the key lessons that resonated with me include:
– The importance of self-awareness, self-care, and self-compassion in leadership.
– The need for women to support and uplift each other in the pursuit of excellence.
– The limitless achievements possible in the ability to dream, dream again, and keep dreaming.
Overall, The International Women Leadership Conference (TIWLC) in Dubai was an unforgettable experience that left me feeling inspired, motivated, and empowered. I returned home with renewed energy, new connections, and a fresh perspective on what it means to be a woman leader in today’s world.

Bolanle Johnson, Head of 1LOD Operational Risk at RBC Brewin Dolphin
The experience was nothing short of transformational. The enthusiasm in the venue was palpable from the time I walked in. I was surrounded by powerful, like-minded women who were eager to learn, share, and support one another. The keynote speeches were delivered with such passion and conviction that they ignited a fire within me to continue to pursue my dreams with even greater focus and determination.
Listening to the keynote speakers Bolaji Sofoluwe and Lucy Quist recount their stories, I came to understand the significance of vision, the necessity of perseverance in the face of adversity, and the necessity of being prepared for any unforeseen circumstances that may arise in life. Their words were not merely motivational; they were filled with practical advice that I could immediately implement in my personal and professional life.
The panel discussions were equally enlightening. I found myself taking notes furiously during the “Living the Dream: Experiences from the Real World” panel, where women in leadership roles shared their authentic journeys. Each story was different, but they all carried the same underlying message: it’s possible to live the dream, even when faced with obstacles.
A specific moment that particularly resonated with me was when Rev. Sam Adeyemi discussed the legacy of leadership. I was deeply moved by the notion that one’s influence and impact on others are the defining factors of your genuine success. This prompted me to reflect more thoroughly on the type of legacy I aspire to leave as a woman in a position of leadership.
This conference has instilled in me a newfound sense of clarity and purpose. The themes of vision, resilience, collaboration, and legacy are now more deeply ingrained in my mindset. I went away with a greater awareness of my personal and professional journey, and I feel empowered to take bold steps toward my dreams, knowing that challenges will come but can be overcome.
Above all, I’ve learnt that living the dream is not about perfection or having it all at once, it’s about perseverance, collaboration, and being intentional with every step I take. I’m now more committed than ever to living my dream, embracing the journey, and supporting other women along the way.

It was a weeklong engagement for me that words cannot adequately describe. The experience was nourishing, empowering, inspiring, validating and much more. It has left me with a wholesome impact that will last a lifetime. Each session was carefully and meticulously curated to meet the diverse needs of the delegates.
I had the opportunity to join the other 360 Master Class Alumni on Monday 17th of March, for a re-union as well as a welcome event for the new cohort. This was significant as it highlighted the importance of the bond of sisterhood created through the Ibukun Awosika 360 Masterclass.
The next day was the pre – conference session where participants got a chance to glean from Ibukun Awosika’s wealth of knowledge, wisdom and experience in discussions on how to be a well-rounded woman who is successful in her work, relationship and every vital aspect of her life while retaining her core. This session gave me the opportunity to meet with other women with similar values, goals and aspirations as mine, it was indeed an enlightening session.
I benefited greatly from the bonus session sponsored by IESE on Wednesday, which focused on innovation and creativity. The enriching session led by Professor Kandarp opened my eyes to the three factors that define creativity as follows.
1. Impact
2. Novelty
3. Communication/Action – presenting an idea to the relevant audience is an important step in the creative process.
It was after these three sessions that over 600 delegates started the main conference themed – Living The Dream, which started with the welcome cocktail creating an avenue for women to relax and connect in a conducive environment.
We subsequently had the two days of keynote speeches and panel sessions centered around the theme. Each speaker was authentic and vulnerable in sharing their story, equipping delegates with vital tools required for truly living the dream such as:
– Preparation
– Resilience
– Commitment
– Dedication
– Prioritisation
– Collaboration
Both our soft and technical skills were sharpened in preparation for the next phase of impact as we accelerate action towards achieving set goals.
Ibukun Awosika’s mantras remain- “To thyself be true” as well as “Context is key and context is king”. She laid so much emphasis on these words, imploring everyone to keep these golden nuggets for a fulfilling and optimal life.
I look forward to next year’s conference with so much excitement and anticipation following my exceeded expectations during the just concluded conference that ended with an opulent gala night.

Chansa Arhunmwunde, Project Management Professional, Financial Literacy Advocate & Educator
Attending this conference for the first time—and all the way from Zambia—was an experience beyond what I could have imagined. Having listened to Ibukun Awosika countless times on YouTube and other virtual platforms, finally hearing her speak in person was an absolute privilege. It was more than just a session, it was a masterclass in wisdom, intention, and purpose.
The conference itself was excellence par none. From the flawless organisation to the lineup of distinguished speakers and the diversity of relevant, timely topics, every moment was impactful. I left not only inspired and challenged but also equipped with fresh insights and practical takeaways to implement in my personal and professional journey.
A key theme that resonated with me was intentionality—something Ibukun Awosika emphasised with her words: “Don’t live your life accidentally. Define your journey and be intentional about it.” That sentiment was echoed across sessions. Rev. Sam Adeyemi reinforced the importance of vision, urging us to “define our leadership purpose and let that be our guiding principle.” Fola Adeola’s wisdom on collaboration was equally compelling—reminding us that to build meaningful partnerships, we must first “be trusted partners.” Bolaji Sofoluwe’s call to “be a verocity beacon—courageous yet vulnerable, focused yet flexible, humble yet confident” was a powerful challenge to every leader in the room.
Beyond the words, the atmosphere of the conference itself was electrifying—a space where knowledge met action, where transformation was not just spoken about but felt. It was impossible to leave unchanged.
I look forward to next year, not just as an attendee but as someone bringing others along for the experience. Because if there’s one thing this conference reinforced, it’s that we change the world by first changing ourselves for the better.

The International Woman Leadership Conference (TIWLC) is an initiative of Ibukun Awosika Leadership that brings C-Suite women across Africa and the diaspora together in a place of knowledge, empowerment, and entertainment.
This is my second year of attendance and I can say it’s a great conference as it is a transformational meeting that impacts a lot of knowledge . The programme has helped me to personalise the technical knowledge and skills that I require to compete effectively in leadership.
Additionally, the networking opportunity is phenomenal. We are being exposed to highly successful women who by hard work, collaboration and passion have risen to very senior ladders in their chosen fields. Women who are not ashamed to share their vulnerability story without losing their essence.
The conference additionally creates opportunities for fun, shopping, dancing and bringing our ‘A game’ in enjoyment and relaxation.

CYNTHIA ERIGBUEM
REGIONAL BANK HEAD, FIDELITY BANK PLC

I am always excited to attend this conference and my experience at the #TIWLC2025 is no different. As a female leader in one of Nigeria’s top banks, I am constantly seeking opportunities to refine my leadership acumen, expand my network, and engage with dynamic women who share my passion for excellence, and this event has had a profound influence on both my personal and professional journey.
This conference was nothing short of transformative, exceeding my expectations with its powerful fusion of inspiration, strategic insights, and high-impact networking. The theme, ‘Women in Leadership: Living the Dream,’ resonated deeply with me—particularly Bolaji Sofoluwe’s compelling perspective on “Dislodging Barriers.” Her words challenged me to reflect on my path, the hurdles I have surmounted, and the limitless potential that lies ahead.
One of my greatest takeaways was the reaffirmation that self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and resilience are not just leadership buzzwords, they are the bedrock of sustainable success. The conference provided a unique platform to engage with an extraordinary group of high-achieving women from diverse industries, fostering deep conversations, meaningful connections, and a shared commitment to elevating one another.
The energy in the room was electric, a testament to the power of women uniting with purpose. In those moments, it became clear that when we support, uplift, and champion each other, we amplify our collective impact. My heartfelt gratitude goes to Ibukun Awosika and the visionary minds behind this incredible event. The International Woman Leadership Conference is more than just a gathering; it is a movement, a catalyst for change, and a powerful reminder that empowered women empower the world.
