President Bola Tinubu on Thursday officially swore in Christopher Musa as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence.
Musa, a former Chief of Defence Staff, arrived at the forecourt of the State House at 3:47 p.m. before taking the oath of office in the President’s office.

The Senate confirmed Musa for the role on Wednesday after a five-hour screening, marking the final step in his appointment.
During his screening, one of the most contentious topics was the withdrawal of troops from the Government Comprehensive Girls Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, just days before the abduction of schoolgirls on November 17.
While Senators pressed for answers, Musa, who assumes office as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence on Thursday, said the matter would be his first priority. “As soon as I assume office, I will order a full-scale investigation into what happened in Kebbi State,” he said.
He added: “A withdrawal of troops before such a tragic abduction is unacceptable. There are questions that need answers, and we will get to the bottom of it.”
