President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the name of Bernard Doro to the Senate for confirmation as a minister representing Plateau State.
The nomination, which was announced 24 hours earlier, follows the exit of Nentawe Yilwatda, the former minister from the state, who now serves as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and read during Wednesday’s plenary, President Tinubu said the nomination was made in accordance with Section 147 (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The president urged the Senate to give the request “expeditious consideration.”
Following the reading of the letter, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for screening and possible confirmation.
However, the earliest the Senate can take up the confirmation is next Tuesday, as the chamber will not hold plenary on Thursday due to a retreat on the ongoing constitution review exercise scheduled for this weekend in Lagos.
