Bola Tinubu, former Lagos state governor has clinched the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general election.
Tinubu garnered 1, 271 votes to defeat his closet rival, Rotimi Amaechi who scored 316 while Vice President Yomi Osinbajo came third with 235 votes and is followed by Ahmad Lawan who got 152 votes.

The votes scored by other aspirants are Yahaya Bello, 47; David Umahi, 38; Ben Ayade, 37; Ahmed Yerima, 4; Ogbonnaya Onu,1; Emeka Nwajiuba, 1 while Rochas Okorocha, Tunde Bakare, Tein Jack-Rich and Ikeobasi Mokelu got zero.
The results emerged after the counting of votes at the ongoing special convention of APC at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
Ad-hoc delegates numbering 2, 340 participated in the exercise and 13 votes voided.
BusinessDay earlier reported that Tinubu was inching to clinch presidential ticket of the APC for the 2023 general election when seven other aspirants stepped down for him.
They include, Godswill Akpabio, former minister of Niger Delta state Affairs; Ibikunle Amosun, former governor of Ogun state; Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti state and Demiji Bankole, former speaker of the House of Representatives have stepped down for the former Lagos governor.
Others were Mohammed Abubakar-Badaru, governor of Jigawa state, Ajayi Borofice, deputy senate leader and Uju Kennedy, the only female aspirant in the race.
