Monday Okpebholo, the Governor of Edo State, said he got the assurance of President Bola Tinubu for the refund of money spent on the rehabilitation of Federal roads in the State.
Governor Okpebholo said this on Wednesday at Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State during All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally for the August 16 Edo Central Senatorial bye-election.
“President Tinubu told me to fix roads in Edo State with the assurance of a reimbursement. So, we are working. Immediately after the rains, there will be massive road construction across the State”, he said.
The governor also disclosed that within a short period in the Senate, he was able to secure an approval of N130 billion from President Bola Tinubu for the construction of Ekpoma–Auchi–Okpella road.
He, however, noted that President Tinubu, despite inheriting a failed economy, had substantially fixed the mess in the last 26 months.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inherited a failed economy from previous Administrations. He met a very bad situation. He has really worked hard to address the issues and to fix the mess he inherited from his predecessors.
“We had a PDP senator who spent eight years and could not achieve this. What we achieved in nine months in the Senate, with President Tinubu’s support, the PDP could not do in eight years.
“Upon assuming office as a Senator and later as Governor, I quickly aligned with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda because of Tinubu’s love for Edo State”, he said.
Okpebholo, who led APC stakeholders to several wards in the area, including Uwessan and Ewu, commended President Tinubu’s policies aimed at stabilising the economy.
He said the president’s support had been instrumental to his own performance as governor, urging Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
