Whatsapp has announced the extension of the date for which it will be terminating support for some devices to be June 30, 2017.

The devices affected include BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60.

The platforms –Android 2.1 and Android 2.2, Windows Phone 7, iPhone 3GS/IOS 6 will no longer be supported at the beginning of 2017, a statement from the company’s website stated.

According to the statement, the platforms don’t offer the needed capabilities to expand the app’s features in the future, and encouraged those using any of the affected mobile devices, to upgrade to a newer Android running OS 2.3+, a Windows Phone 8+, or an iPhone running iOS 7+ before the end of 2016 in order to continue using WhatsApp.

It can be recalled that in February, 2016, Whatsapp said it would be terminating support for some devices through its blog.

The question is, how would this affect Blackberry users, and the Blackberry market?
