First bank has taken technology a step further with its new, easy to use mobile banking app, Firstmobile.
The smartphone app which can be downloaded on android, IoS and blackberry devices, allows customers to enjoy real-time mobile banking services such as domestic funds transfer from self-owned accounts to other FirstBank accounts and other bank accounts; as well as make quick airtime purchase for self and others on all mobile networks; bills payments; cheque services including confirm cheque and stop cheque, flight booking; and quick account services such as account balance inquiry, statement view and much more, has gathered momentum just a few months after its launch.
At a demo presentation of the app to select journalists, the First bank digital banking group showcased the special features of Firstmobile app which include the fact that it can be downloaded and logged into from your different devices by clicking on the ‘activate a new device’ tab.
A five digit mobile personal identity number (mPIN) and card details are required for first time registration and activation of the app. The PIN will be used going forward every time the customer logs in or activates a new device. The app also allows the customer to send feedback directly from it to the bank by tapping ‘send’ at the bottom of the screen. The email for enquiries and help will be sent to firstcontact@firstbanknigeria.com for prompt response.
FirstBank, says that the app is yet another step towards leveraging evolving technologies to bring fast and convenient financial services closer to Nigerians, in line with the bank’s digital banking strategy.
In case, you forget your mPIN or transaction PIN, the mobile app has an option to help you change your PIN. Beneficiaries can also be easily added or removed on the Firstmobile application; your hardware token can be synchronized with your mobile banking on the app.
The most incredible thing about having a transaction PIN is that it allows the customer to authorize transaction above the daily cumulative limit. When transacting over the daily limit of N50, 000, an alert message comes up on the screen of your opened Firstmobile application, saying; “This transaction exceeds your daily transaction limit of N50, 000.00. Please use your token.”
You will need to set personalised security questions and answers to reset your mPIN, Transaction PIN, manage beneficiaries etc.
The Firstmobile app is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from anywhere in the world. This means that your important business transactions are not limited to working hours when banking halls are open. All accounts with First bank can be accessed on the app, including the current, savings, domiciliary, visa Dollar and Naira card accounts. Joint account holders can also use the app and all transactions done on the app will receive alerts.
Accoding to First Bank; “the app is situated in a highly secured environment to protect your account on the app. The PIN is uniquely linked to the app on your device. All transactions on the app are validated by either a transaction PIN known only to you or the Bank’s issued token. All these are in addition to other security measures put in place to ensure that your transaction information is protected from intruders.”
In addition, the lifestyle banking app offers FirstBank customers unique access to the latest articles and videos across a wide variety of categories, including technology and gadgets, life and travel, the economy, local news, luxury goods, business, health, sports, entertainment, shopping and more. The application is free and available for download to customers of the bank.
