Sharp Corporation, a global multi-billion dollar conglomerate, and Dajcom Limited, a leading Nigerian based company in the distribution, manufacturing and retailing of electronics and home appliances have entered into strategic partnership that would see the assembly, distribution and retailing of Sharp electronic products in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation.

The partnership deal which was officially announced recently in Lagos by the two companies is also aimed at offering new innovative products to the customers and also expected to boost significantly the Nigeria’s electronics market as well as the economy.

David Safa, managing director, Dajcom Limited, who spoke with newsmen in Lagos last week, said the two companies have ventured into this deal with high hopes that the partnership will not only pave way for economic growth but also thrill the Nigerian consumers.

“We are confident about the collaboration. Sharp is known for its innovative Japanese technology, two years warranty, genuine spare parts and wide spread of profession service centres. And Dajcom has been in the Nigeria market for about twelve years. It is not just assembling or distributing the products alone, we are also thrilled to making these innovative and high quality products to the door steps of our customer at affordable rates,” he said.

He expressed optimism that irrespective of the fact that Sharp has been out of the market for some years now that there every indications that Sharp in the near future would become popular in Nigeria.

“The market in the last twelve years when we started operation is very distinct from what we have today; there have been a lot of technological changes over the years especially in information system. Nigeria is a bigger country compared to some other countries, that is why we have increased our distribution centres in strategic cities in Nigeria.

“Our aim is to capture at least 85 percent of the entire country,” he said. Speaking in the same vein, Fred Yamaguchi, managing director, Middle East Sharp Corporation said, Nigeria is an important market.

“We are committed to towards enriching and contributing to the development of Nigeria which is the critical point of the African market. Pricing and affordability are also key areas in the Nigerian market, we have put all these into consideration and we are determined to making life easier and better for our customers.

“Considering the fact that power is a major critical issue in Nigeria, we are also taking steps to ensure that our products definitely suit the situation in Nigeria,” he said.
